Project 25 Interior Design Studio started operating just a few years ago in 2016 and during this short period of time, we have managed to work on some significantly important projects. The District Hotel, is one of these projects, completed in 2017 and is located in the bustling tourist-filled streets of St Julians.

This hotel upon entrance includes a reception and bar area at the lobby and 39 fully equipped rooms that vary from double rooms to family rooms. A hotel lobby area is an important place in a hotel, as it is the first thing people entering the hotel will see. First impressions are very important, so with this in mind, we worked on the reception and bar area in the District Hotel to surely give out the right feel and impact.

A combination of materials was used here, ranging from elegant marble to industrial corten steel (weathering steel with a stable rust-like appearance) to the warm feeling of American walnut wood. This juxtaposition of materials creates an interesting backdrop to the bar area that the clients can enjoy and relax as there is ample seating available. We worked on this idea of contrasting materials and colours with the warm blue hue of the seating and the wood to compensate for the coldness of the marble and steel.

One of the main features of the lobby area is the 2 storey water cascade. This custom designed water feature was brought on site in pieces and assembled and welded in place due to its large size. Water slides down on the corten steel strips and over curved elements and finally drops in a water pond creating a constant water sound that is both lively and relaxing.

The rooms were designed in a modern style with a monochrome palette together with some accents of blue and contain ample lighting. The rooms contain all the necessary amenities such as a good-sized desk, mini bar, TV, air-conditioning, wardrobe, coffee making facilities and a fully equipped ensuite bathroom.

The feature wall behind the beds is formed by strips of grey stained wood and accent strips in black gloss lacquer above the bedside tables. We opted for a metallic effect wallpaper to add depth to the room. All the double beds in the hotel can be split up to two single beds making the rooms flexible to accommodate all the client’s needs.
