Porto Social Summit | Bureau Brussels Report

The European Commission, European Parliament, Council and European Social Partners made a joint-commitment to meet 3 flagship targets by 2030 identified in the European Pillar of Social Rights. These include to: (i) at least 78% of people aged 20 to 64 should be in employment (73% as at 2019); (ii) at least 60% of adults should participate in training every year; and (iii) the number of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion should be reduced by at least 15 million, including at least 5 million children.

The roadmap to meet these commitment is outlined in the Action Plan for the European Pillar of Social Rights that was published in 2021 and which has become more relevant in the context of the social impact of Covid-19 and the process for economic recovery.
