Short-term rentals in the EU – Significant growth in Q2 2024

On October 3, 2024, Eurostat released new data on short-term rental bookings within the European Union for the second quarter of 2024. A total of 208.8 million nights were booked through platforms like Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia Group, and Tripadvisor, marking a 16.2% rise compared to the same period in 2023.

In detail, April saw 53.5 million nights booked, reflecting a slight 1.8% drop from 2023. However, in May, bookings surged by 31.7%, reaching 73.0 million nights, and June continued the upward trend with 82.3 million nights, a 17.8% increase from last year.

This marks the fourth consecutive year of double-digit growth in bookings for the second quarter.
