Eurostat: Nights booked via online platforms up 18% in Q3 2024

According to a recent report by Eurostat, in Q3 2024, the EU’s short-term rental market experienced notable growth, with 366.2 million guest nights booked via platforms like Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, and Tripadvisor. This marked an 18% increase compared to Q3 2023 (310 million nights) – highlighting the ongoing rise in demand for platform-based accommodations.

Growth was steady across the quarter: July saw 135 million guest nights (+16.4%), August hit a record 152.2 million (+21.6%), and September recorded 79 million (+14%). Malta led with a 40.9% increase in bookings, followed by Germany (+26%) and Sweden (+24.6%).

The sector has now surpassed pre-pandemic levels in most EU countries, marking the fourth consecutive year of double-digit Q3 growth. More information can be found here.
