The successful recovery efforts post-Covid-19 were fuelled by the digital transition, which played a pivotal role in revitalising the sector after the downturn it faced during the pandemic. With the goal of strengthening the sector and ensuring resilience over the next decade, the EU has been actively promoting increased digitalisation uptake within travel and tourism to enhance Europe’s competitive edge as a prime tourist destination. This transformation has in turn revolutionised the industry, impacting everything from business models, customer approaches, to value chains. In this landscape, digital skills are now more crucial than ever to meet marketplace demands.  Small and medium-sized tourism enterprises need a sufficiently skilled workforce that is able to leverage digital technologies that enhance the tourism product.

Against this background, the Erasmus+ DIGITOUR project (Agreement No.: 2021-2-IE01-KA220-VET-000048348) has developed a self-training programme designed to skill, reskill, and upskill the human resource base servicing tourism with digital readiness. The DIGITOUR platform is a strong foundation for ongoing use and for broader adoption as a training and upskilling programme for the tourism industry enriched with a variety of engaging resources such as presentations, interactive quizzes, and instructional videos. The training is free of charge, self-paced, multilingual (Dutch, English, Greek, and Spanish) and offers completion certificates. The training aims to enhance digital skills and competences in the SME tourism sector. The course consists of 12 modules:
