Croatia drops all Covid entry restrictions

Croatia has dropped all Covid-19 entry requirements, according to the destination’s tourist board.

A statement from the Croatian National Tourist Office on Tuesday (May 3) said: “This is to inform you that from 1 May 2022, Croatia has dropped all Covid-19 entry requirements.

“All travellers entering Croatia can now do so under the same conditions of entry that were in force before the Covid-19 pandemic, i.e with valid travel documents.”

The change comes just weeks after the country eased its restrictions about face coverings and limits on capacity for venues and public transport.

However, travellers from the UK and other non-EU countries were still required to fill in an online form and present documentation about their Covid status or a negative test result.

Darija Reic, director of the tourist board’s office in the UK, added: “We are happy to confirm that Croatia has dropped all Covid entry requirements for Brits.

“In 2019, we welcomed around 900,000 travellers from the UK, and with the return of numerous flights this year from the UK to Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Split, Dubrovnik and Zagreb, we hope this news will incite many more to choose our sunny coast and lustrous inland for their well deserved summer break.

“With a number of new hotels, restaurants, and events confirmed for this summer, Croatia is set for a strong season ahead.”

Reic said the news has been passed on to the UK Foreign Office which is expected to update its advice page for Croatia soon.

The move echoes that of Greece, which also eased entry restrictions from May 1, meaning travellers no longer need to show proof of Covid vaccination or a recovery certificate or a negative Covid test.
