The Malta Business Bureau (MBB) has conducted an assessment report looking into the tangible impacts of the proposed Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation, together with Grant Thornton. The report involves a combination of online desk research and in-depth interviews with a range of businesses likely to be impacted by the proposal, including hotels and restaurants.
Some of the main concerns highlighted include the lack of information contained in a number of provisions and an overreliance on delegated acts, the lack of transition periods for the banning of certain packaging formats, the unavailability of alternative solutions for certain packaging, and the potential impact on product quality and durability by changes in packaging.
