In July 2024, the cost of package holidays in the EU rose by 6.6% compared to July 2023. Domestic holiday packages experienced an 11.1% increase, while international packages saw a 5.7% rise. Prices for package holidays have been climbing across the EU since August 2021, with annual growth rates surpassing 10% in most months during 2022 and 2023. Notably, domestic holiday packages saw a sharp price increase in 2023, with inflation rates exceeding 20% for seven consecutive months.
In July 2024, the majority of EU countries reported positive annual inflation rates for domestic package holidays. The largest increases were seen in France (+22.2%), Italy (+19.5%), and Cyprus (+16.7%) compared to July 2023. On the other hand, three EU countries recorded negative inflation rates for holiday packages: Malta (-2.9%), Finland (-2.7%), and Denmark (-0.2%).
