Croatia talks up Safety Credentials at Virtual Conference

The Croatian National Tourist Board talked up the country’s safety credentials ahead of the summer tourism season at a virtual conference held for representatives from 10 countries.

The sessions covered entry conditions for Croatia, the current epidemiological situation, testing, medical support, the tourist board’s project ‘Safe Stay In Croatia’ and campaign ‘Trust me, I’ve been there’, which runs until the end of July.

Suggesting Croatia could become the leading tourist destination in the Mediterranean, tourist board director Kristjan Staničić said: “The information we receive every day from our most important markets gives us optimism before the main part of the tourist year in which we expect the greatest intensity of tourist traffic.”

Britons travelling to Croatia must present a negative Covid-19 antigen or PCR test result taken up to 48 hours before arriving in Croatia, proof of vaccination or a certificate of recovery following a positive test result between 11 and 180 days prior.

Those who take a rapid lateral flow test before entering the country must take another after 10 days in Croatia.

Like most countries in Europe, Croatia remains on the UK’s amber list, meaning those returning to the UK from the country must self-isolate at home for 10 days and take two PCR tests.

The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) currently advises against all but essential travel to Croatia as part of its wider policy on Covid-19, with only some destinations exempt. Most package holiday tour operators will not operate to the country until the FCDO changes its stance.

Minister of tourism Nikolina Brnjac added: “I believe that we have put in place all necessary measures to make Croatia a safe holiday destination.

“This year in Croatia, we are focused on a quality and highly diversified tourist offer, along with a high level of security for our guests.”
