Malta on European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention ‘Green List’

The European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, ECDC, this morning placed Malta on its green list after the rate of spread of the Covid-19 virus had decreased substantially.

The map which is published every Thursday shows the situation in European countries in regard to positive cases of the coronavirus. This as part of the Council’s recommendation for a coordinated approach for free travel restrictions in reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Malta has been placed on the green list after the rate of cases during the past fortnight stood at less than 25 cases per 100,000 persons, whilst the positive rate was below 4%. Only parts of Finland, Norway and Iceland were also placed on this list.

Meanwhile, in the coming hours, Malta will have administered over half a million doses of the vaccine against Covid-19, with 200,000 persons having received the full doses.
