The EU recently launched the Union of Skills initiative to enhance basic skills, promote lifelong learning, and support workforce mobility across the EU. By 2030, it aims to reduce underachievement in literacy, mathematics, science, and digital skills to below 15%.
The initiative also includes a Skills Guarantee pilot to help workers in restructuring sectors transition to new careers and a Skills Portability Initiative to facilitate recognition of qualifications across the EU. Additionally, a Visa Strategy will attract skilled talent, which aims to synergize with the EU Talent Pool, which will be implemented once approved.
