Tunisia to require PCR tests for all arrivals

All passengers arriving in Tunisia will be required to present proof of a negative PCR test, regardless of their vaccination status.

The rules apply to all visitors over the age of 12 from Thursday (July 1), with the exception of those on inclusive tours, for whom the requirement will come in from July 10.

Previously, those who had received both jabs of an approved Covid-19 vaccine or who had recovered from Covid more than six weeks before arrival were not required to take a PCR test.

A statement issued by the Tunisian National Tourist Office said: “In accordance with the decision of the Tunisian authorities on 29th June 2021, we would like to inform you that as of 1st July 2021, all travellers going to Tunisia, including those who have completed the full doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, must take a PCR test less than 72 hours before travel and present a dated test certificate bearing a “QR code” upon check-in at the departure airport.

“The certificate must be handed over by the passenger to the health services at the thermal checkpoint on arrival at Tunisian airports. Only children under 12 are exempt.”

It added: “Passengers arriving in Tunisia on charter or scheduled flights, as part of an organised trip (inclusive tours), and having received two jabs, will be required to comply with these conditions from July 10th, 2021.”
