Tunisia begins Vaccination drive for Tourism Staff

Seven vaccination centres have been established across Tunisia as part of a drive to inoculate tourism staff against Covid-19.

The government of the north African country has prioritised tourism workers as part of its national vaccination strategy.

It means all staff in the tourism supply chain who have direct contact with foreign travellers – such as hotel and travel agency employees, local guides, drivers and welcome staff at airports and museums – will be included in the vaccination campaign.

The initiative follows the lifting on June 1 of the need for quarantine or a negative PCR test result for Covid-19 for selected arrivals.

The new entry requirements apply to fully vaccinated travellers or those who have tested positive for Covid-19 at least six weeks before their departure date.

Rapid tests will still be conducted upon arrival and those with positive results will be required to quarantine in dedicated centres.

The Tunisian National Tourist Office in the UK and Ireland also highlighted how there is “rapid progress of the vaccine roll-out for the local population” in Tunisia.

It said that the progress with vaccinations and easing of entry rules mean that Tunisia has “robustly positioned itself” to welcome foreign visitors “safely and surely”.
