Naan Bar nominated as Best Restaurant in Malta

According to a recent announcement, Valletta’s only upscale Indian restaurant Naan Bar has been nominated as “Best restaurant in Malta 2021” by the World Culinary Awards. The awards that take place every year has included Naan Bar in its list of nominees based on the quality of the food offering, high level of service and upscale ambience. Naan Bar is also the only Indian restaurant in Malta to be nominated for the prestigious award.

Launched by luxury hotelier Amruda Nair, who is of Indian origin, Naan Bar was developed to raise the bar when it came to Indian cuisine in Malta. Professional Indian chefs trained in India’s top luxury hotels – from those that were voted best hotel brand in the world two years in a row in 2020 and 2021 – were brought in to develop the menu and the service team who hail from across the globe have been trained in 5-star hotels in South Asia and the Middle East.

The culinary offerings include a seasonal menu featuring several new dishes to cater to growing demand in Malta during the pandemic for healthier meals as well as an extensive number of vegan-compliant, gluten-free and keto-friendly dishes that have been designed to make healthy eating fun and enjoyable.

The restaurant opened in 2019, the year when Valletta was the E.U. Culture Capital and Naan Bar remains the city’s only Indian restaurant. Created to introduce modern Indian cuisine to the capital, the restaurant was launched by a Master Chef finalist. The restaurant offers authentic Indian cuisine prepared by Indian chefs from India’s finest luxury hotels, adhering to traditional cooking methods while experimenting with local ingredients and modern presentation.

The Naan Bar kitchen is inspired by the diversity and rich history of Indian cuisine and creates modern dishes using traditional techniques and finest quality ingredients. The menu is a culinary balance of signature dishes and seasonal specials, exclusively crafted using ingredients and techniques that showcase the culture and cuisine. “Working with local Maltese suppliers to source the best ingredients available locally is important to us. We aim to be the best Indian food restaurant in Malta and work closely with local suppliers who share our passion for quality. Naan Bar is a truly social dining experience, presenting a contemporary take on nostalgic dishes yet honouring age-old tradition and technique”, says Owner Amruda Nair.

Reservations are recommended but not required to be made at the restaurant, which promotes a casual and upscale dining experience. The restaurant is able to accommodate up to 40 people for private parties and has an infrastructure to cater well to their various culinary needs. Inspired by local Maltese cuisine and locally sourced ingredients, Naan Bar also introduced a menu for special occasions that includes innovative dishes for group dining in the restaurant’s private dining room.

Naan Bar is also a proud supporter of its neighbour Foodbank Lifeline Foundation, also located in Valletta, which has doubled the number of families it serves during the pandemic.

Naan Bar is based in Valletta, Malta and their emphasis is on Modern Indian food, blending authentic, well-researched recipes with contemporary influences for the creation of their culinary delights. For more information regarding the restaurant and the launch of their new menu, please visit http://naanbar.com/
