Malta Tourism Authority to host Virtual Training Events

The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) will host a series of virtual events later this month to update travel agents and operators about the destination ahead of the peak selling season.

Called Discover the Maltese Islands, the events will be held from November 22-25, from 9am-12pm. Those interested should register by November 17 to secure their place.

Travel agents and tour operators can register for themed sessions to learn about products and experiences for Malta’s key target markets: Sun & Culture Lovers, Adventure Seekers, Slow Explorers and Luxury Travellers.

Destination partners will join the sessions, such as top restaurants, wineries, Heritage Malta, Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit, Allied Rainbow Community and Gozo Tourism Authority.

Attendees can also schedule 15-minute one-to-one appointments with hotels and destination management companies (DMCs) to discuss specific enquiries.

Those taking part will also have the chance to win a range of prizes, from wine and food, to places on trips to the Maltese archipelago.

Natalie Swinburne, UK & Ireland trade marketing manager, said: “We have developed these virtual events to ensure our trade partners have the latest knowledge about what’s available in Malta so that they have the confidence to plan and book future trips to Malta for their clients.

“There’s been significant investment in Malta’s tourism product over the past 18 months, so we want to ensure our trade partners are up to date on what’s new, what’s improved and what’s in the pipeline for next year, so that our travel agent partners have all product knowledge and tools to help generate those valuable enquiries and bookings.”
