Malta spearheading the Mediterranean Tourism BRAIN

The Mediterranean Tourism Forum today launched the BRAIN – the Business Research and Innovation Network; an innovation hub which will be the legacy of this year’s Forum.

The aim of the BRAIN will be that to bring together the most creative thinkers – from authors to researchers to business leaders and politicians to explore new avenues in the sustainable growth of the tourism, hospitality, and travel sectors.

The Forum which brought together over 1000 delegates from 30 different countries started by addressing what’s happening in the world from the perspective of an economist, a disruptor, a psychologist, and a historian. Thereafter the opportunities of what is arising in tourism and related innovative solutions such as Metaverse, AI and Robots was discussed and showcased to breakthrough new ideas.

Climate change activist Michael Haddad who just arrived to Malta after finishing his goal to walk 100Km across the Arctic to highlight the need and urgency for climate action was the first speaker. What makes Michael outstanding is that he was subject to a spinal cord injury that left 75% of his body completely paralyzed from the chest down.

Former President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic closed the Plenary session of the Forum.

Rajan Datar from BBC and Nikoletta Kritikou from Euronews moderated the Forum with the participation of Jill Hellman, Chief Innovator & Cornell University Lecturer and Mehmet Binay, Film Producer and Storyteller.
