With effect from Sunday 18th April, Israel has become the first country to officially remove the obligation to wear a mask in public.

Despite this, the country’s health authorities are still suggesting that masks should be worn when many persons are together.

The country launched a strong vaccination campaign and has now decided to test its impact.

Besides, Israel has also decided to re-open schools after one year, with students having to wear masks indoors.

At the same time, it is still mandatory for people to wear masks in indoor public places.

It is estimated that 5.3 million persons have taken the first dose and 4.9 million have taken both doses.

According to the Israeli health authorities, there are presently 2,586 active cases, and the number of deaths is 6,315.
