Artificial Intelligence Act | Bureau Brussels Report

The Commission published a proposal for a Regulation laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence together with an updated Coordinated Plan on AI and new rules for Machinery.

This is the first-ever legal framework on AI and aims to guarantee the safety and fundamental rights of people, while strengthening AI uptake. The Regulation ends certain AI uses of prohibited practices (such as AI systems providing social scoring or manipulating humans), introduces specific requirements for High-risk AI systems and their operators (such as in the case of biometric identification), and lays transparency rules for AI systems intended to interact with natural persons.
